Lt. Governor Mike’s Day Break ---- Number 3 ---- April, 2006

Please be sure to share this information with your club
Fellow Kiwanians:

As they say, time flies when you are having fun, and as Kiwanians, “Ain’t We Got Fun”?  At this point our year is half over.  Can we say the glass is half full, or should we say it’s half empty?  I’ll tell you this; we’ve six months left in our year.  Let’s hit it “Head On” so we can have one of the greatest years ever!

It’s Election Time

Here we are, election time.  We are searching for a candidate for Lt. Governor to follow Lt. Governor Elect Ann Holevinski. (We are wishing Ann a great year.  She and Bob are enjoying that great Florida sunshine.)

We do have one prospective candidate at this time, but how about someone from your club? I know that there are many of you fellow Kiwanians that would make great Lt. Governors.

We are Hosting the
Official visit of International President Steve Seimens and
Governor Dave Rothman

By now, all of you have received your invitation to attend this Gala affair on Saturday May 6th hosted by the Genesee, Finger Lakes and Chemung Divisions.  We are so privileged to have both Governor Dave and President Steve visit our area.  Please be sure that your club is represented at this event!

Kiwanis’ International President normally visits a District once every five years.

‘Always tell people about Kiwanis’

“Keep the front door open, and the back door shut.”

Here are a few more tips from Lt. Governor Mike:
• Always greet visitors and make them feel welcome.  Escort them to tables, and introduce them to tablemates.
• Always invite visitors and program speakers to join your Kiwanis Club.
• Always keep the “Changing Tomorrow’s Today” brochure or the new “One Can Make a Difference” booklet handy to give to prospective members (contact Member Services @ 800-549-2657, ext. 390, for these materials).
• Recruit young people
• Never turn any prospective member away.
• And always, always, always tell people about Kiwanis and invite them to meetings.

“You can never be told ‘no’ to a membership invitation if you don’t ask”

Genesee Division Prayer Breakfast is May 13th

Please set aside Saturday morning, May 13th for our Annual prayer breakfast.  Please inform PLG Larry Cartwright of your club members that have passed during the last year, as we would like to honor them during this service.

Mark your calendar for MONTREAL

June 28th – July 2nd will see the Kiwanis World gather in Montreal at what promises to be an exciting Convention.  While each club secretary received a registration package, you can go on-line (www.kiwanis.org/convention/) to register.  And if you do it before April 15th, you will be able to register at a reduced rate.  Norma and I hope to see you there!

KIWANIS – The Champion for Children!

• Evaluating both children’s issues and community needs on an ongoing basis
• Service projects often are linked to the Kiwanis Program, “Young Children Priority One”
• This initiative places continuing focus on the needs of children in pediatric trauma, safety, childcare, early development, infant health, nutrition and parenting skills.

Kiwanians, the above statements tell us the most of what our club is about.  They help to identify what our Permanent Objectives are . . . Kiwanis, the champion for children.
